About
Marin McPeak was born in 1998 and grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She is receiving her BFA in Printmaking from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University. Her paintings and prints have been featured in Tyler’s annual student exhibitions.
My work explores themes of nostalgia, the mundane, and replication. I am a printmaker and painter, mostly working in etching, lithography, and oils. With an interest in the past, I draw from family photographs, vintage pattern design, and textiles. I have been influenced by a wide variety of artists from photorealist Robert Bechtle to textile designer William Morris. A focus on the specificity of color and texture along with great attention to detail helps me to create work reminiscent of past decades, particularly the sixties and seventies. My inspiration stems from my relationship with my family and how memories change over time. By combining vintage imagery, precision of color, and reproduction of pattern design, I create work that will bring viewers back to moments passed.
